Our October selection is The Nature of Fragile Things by Susan Meissner, a historical fiction novel set against the backdrop of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. It follows Sophie Whalen, an Irish immigrant who becomes a mail-order bride to escape poverty. As she navigates her new life with her distant husband and his young daughter, secrets unravel, and unexpected bonds form.
